What We Do

The Abingdon Good Neighbour Scheme is a voluntary initiative run by a group of local residents who want to help people in their locality to enjoy a better quality of life by offering them companionship and support with every day tasks.

We have a team of volunteers, all DBS checked, who can help with tasks like shopping, dog walking, form filling and letter writing, collecting prescriptions, one-off gardening tasks, using the internet and basic DIY tasks that some people may find difficult. We can also arrange for a volunteer to visit for a cup of tea and a chat on a regular basis, if you are feeling isolated or lonely.

No experience or skills are required, just an hour or so a week, a willingness to help and a friendly attitude.

Receive Help

If you require help, you can contact us by phone or email where we can discuss how we can help you. We will then arrange to visit you at home to make an initial assessment and then we will do our best to find a suitable volunteer to help you.
