Laura’s photography project for The Abingdon Good Neighbour Scheme
My name is Laura Williams; I am a volunteer for the GNS and also a photographer with a blog in which I post photos and articles that I write. I recently attended the GNS AGM to discuss the idea of doing a photography project with the GNS, with the aim of giving me a project that I can use to practise my portrait photography and at the same time advertise the GNS to my readers, many of whom are local and know little about it.
My idea is to find a few of you (and your neighbour) who would be willing for me to come along with you on one of your visits and take some portraits of the person you help or have befriended and yourself, and maybe ask a few questions about how why they use the GNS, how it has helped them, what you enjoy about visiting people etc, so that I can turn them into a short series of blog posts on the wonderful work of the GNS.
If you think you have someone who might be interested, please let me know. Anyone who you think has an especially interesting face/story would be great, but just anyone willing would be great really. Obviously I will need the written consent of both of you to use the photos on the internet, so some explaining might be required. I am happy to come along to talk to anyone who is interested so that they can meet me first and let me discuss it with them before I take any photos.
